The message from 1851
This work was created for my Design class. We were tasked with designing a visually engaging publication for the first world's fair (1851) using Owen Jones' The Grammar of Ornament and The Complete Encyclopedia of Illustration as graphic standards. I developed a simple message written in Baskerville Old Face and adorned it with elements from Owen Jones' The Grammar of Ornament and 19th-century illustrations. This work was then turned into a poster that is still available for purchase at the GDD fall fundraising events.
